Guidelines for the Our Prayer Group
PARENTS WHO PRAY

  1. We honor Christ in all that we share with each other.

  2. We never judge anyone on the list, but give compassion and prayer support.

  3. Everything shared in this e-group is kept confidential. It is not posted elsewhere, nor forwarded to anyone else, nor discussed outside this group unless permission is granted by those who are quoted.

  4. When we want to respond to a conversation with one specific person off-line, we get that person's email address off the letter and write to him/her privately, careful not to accidentally send it to the whole e-group.

  5. If we find good material on other sites or in an email that's been sent to us, we share it with the list only if it somehow pertains to a current need or discussion, and we introduce the other material by sharing what it means to us and how it relates to the discussion. Also, we are careful not to violate copyright laws in what we share, always giving credit to the original author and including the book title or the website URL (address) where we got it from.

  6. We don't preach at each other, but rather we share our insights based on our own experiences, we share our questions and struggles, we share the joy of our new spiritual growth, and we share our prayers.

  7. We don't treat this community as a therapy group, although we do share how we are working to overcome problems, always glorifying God and keeping our eyes on Jesus.

  8. This discussion group is Catholic. Although we welcome non-Catholic Christians, we freely utilize Catholic prayers. This is not a forum to debate Catholic teachings, for example our beliefs about praying to Mary the Blessed Mother of Jesus or about asking for prayer support from the Saints. Joining this email prayer group is only possible by permission and is not open to the public. Those who violate our guidelines are subject to removal. This ensures that all members have a common faith and already understand each other in the use of Catholic prayers.

  9. If the amount of email you get becomes too much, you can switch your account to "digest" mode, which means you will get only one email that shows all conversations for the day. Go to gogoodnews.net/mailman/listinfo/parentswhopray_gogoodnews.net (this link is always at the bottom of each email from the Emmaus Journey community), scroll down to the yellow "Parents Who Pray Subscribers" area, log in with your email address, and change your settings.

  10. If you need to temporarily or permanently remove yourself from the list, please don't ask for help unless you've first tried to do it yourself. It's really easy for you to do it -- use the link that comes at the bottom of all the group email, just like in #9. You can even get your password from there if you don't know it!
