Heavenly Father, the Blessed Virgin Mary was dedicated to You by her parents when she was three. In the temple, she joined the girls who spent their days praying, reading Scripture, and serving the temple priests. Her holiness was very evident, and the high priest thought that You probably had great plans for her. I ask Mary to pray for the plans You have for my life. Where I have strayed onto a road of my own choosing, give me her hand to guide me back to where You want me. Where I need to wait for a new plan to begin, give me the grace remain patient and say, “Your will be done.” Blessed Virgin Mary, pray for me. Amen.

My Lord, Saint Edmund of East Anglia was a king who was captured by pagan invaders. The enemy wanted him to sign a treaty that would harm his country and Church, but he chose to die rather than to grieve You and hurt his people. I ask him to pray for me to remain loyal to You and to the people You have called me to serve. Make me sensitive, Holy Spirit, to the snares of compromise and teach me to avoid mixing the world’s teachings with the true Faith. When I am pressured to put aside Your ways for the sake of keeping a job or making a good impression, give me courage to do Your will. Saint Edmund, pray for me. Amen.
Holy Spirit, Saint Nerses devoted his life to teaching both priests and laity to come alive in the Faith and increase their holiness. He believed that no matter how spiritually advanced a person might be, there was always need for more growth. I ask him to pray for all those who give parish missions, retreats, spirituality courses, and other teachings about the Good News. Inspire them, O Lord, to preach messages that challenge us and awaken us to greater faith rather than messages that do little more than please our ears. Raise up speakers who are growing in holiness themselves. Saint Nerses, pray for us. Amen.
Gracious God, Saint Rose-Philippine Duchesne handled very difficult work as a missionary in the new world of America, overcoming many obstacles while opening convents and dealing with the different languages and customs of the people. She continued to accept these challenges even into her 70s. I ask her to pray for the challenges I’m confronting, that I am renewed by Your love and encouraged by Your guidance. Enliven me so that I never run out of energy for doing the work You call me to accomplish. O Lord, remove any obstacles that threaten the work or show me how to overcome them. Saint Rose-Philippine, pray for me. Amen.
Sweet Jesus, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary was a princess who married a prince. Concerned for the poor, she donated to them her portion of the prince’s income and then sold her luxurious possessions to give them more. After her husband died, she renounced worldly wealth, built a hospice for the weak and sickly, and invited the most wretched to dine with her. I ask her to intercede for the salvation of all rich persons today, for You said it’s hard for them to enter the kingdom of Heaven. Replace greedy hearts with the same generous heart You gave to Saint Elizabeth. Help us all to discover Your true riches. Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, pray for us. Amen.
