October 3

Saint Gerard of BrogneGood Jesus, Saint Gerard of Brogne joined a monastery in order to find a quiet, peaceful place to spend his time in prayer, although he willingly left his solitude to help others become stronger in their faith.  He believed that if people realized the joy that came from praying, they would pray more often, so I ask him to help me find my own “hermitage,” a quiet place where I can discover the joy of frequent prayer.  Lord, teach me to discipline myself to take time for solitude despite my many activities and distractions.  Guide me in overcoming my laziness and raise the quality of my prayers to a higher level.  Saint Gerard, pray for me.  Amen.
