Saint John of Kanty

December 23

Saint John of KantyLoving God, Saint John of Kanty was unjustly kicked out of a university job and reassigned as pastor of a small church.  The parishioners treated him harshly.  He gradually won their trust by taking a genuine interest in them, never growing impatient, and never getting angry at their hostility.  Though he was strict about his own behavior, he was lenient with others.  I ask him to pray for the people who are currently opposing me.  Teach me, O Lord, how to win them over with kindness and deeds of love.  Help me to forgive them quickly and to remain patient as I wait for You to give them a change of heart.  Saint John, pray for us.  Amen.
