December 23 – Saint John of Kanty

Saint John of Kanty

listenLoving God, Saint John of Kanty (1390-1473) was unjustly kicked out of a university job and reassigned as pastor of a small church.  The parishioners treated him harshly.  He gradually won their trust by taking a genuine interest in them, never growing impatient, and never getting angry at their hostility.  Though he was strict about his own behavior, he was lenient with others.  I ask him to pray for the people who are currently opposing me.  Teach me, O Lord, how to win them over with kindness and deeds of love.  Help me to forgive them quickly and to remain patient as I wait for You to give them a change of heart.  Saint John, pray for us.  Amen.

Quote for Today

Saint John of Kanty (1390-1473)

quoteFight all error, but do it with good humor, patience, kindness, and love. Harshness will damage your own soul and spoil the best cause.”
