April 12 – Saint Sabas

Saint-Sabas

listenHoly Jesus, Saint Sabas (439-532) served You as a lector in church until he was captured by heathens.  When he refused to eat food that had been sacrificed to idols, he was martyred.  Make me aware, O Lord, of the “food” that the world offers, which is poisonous to my soul.  Purify me of appetites for immoral shows and movies, from spending money on goods I don’t need while the poor go hungry, and from socializing with people who might lead me into sin.  Give me the strength and courage to say no to everything that is not part of Your Kingdom, even if the cost is ridicule and rejection.  Saint Sabas , pray for me.  Amen.

Quotes for Today

Saint Joseph Moscati (1880-1927)
Feast Day April 12

quoteLet us daily practice charity. God is love. He who loves is in God and God in him. Let us never forget to offer every day, nay, every moment, our actions to God, doing all things for love.”

quoteLove truth; show yourself as you are, without pretenses and fears and without ceremonies. And if the truth causes you persecution accept it, and if it causes some torment, bear it and if for truth’s sake you should sacrifice your self and your life, be strong in your sacrifice.”
