Blessed Lord, Saints Cyril and Methodius were brothers who worked successfully to convert pagans. Saint Cyril’s special prayer was: “I return to You, Your people, Your gift to me. Direct them with Your powerful right hand, and protect them under the shadow of Your wings.” I ask both of these saints to pray for the people God has placed in my life. Help me, O Lord, to be an inspiration for their spiritual growth. Protect me from focusing on the hurts they cause, so that I may see these people as gifts. Teach me to be grateful for the opportunities of serving them. Saints Cyril and Methodius, pray for me. Amen.

Lord Jesus, Saint Martinian the hermit was determined in remembering the consequences of sin. Help me to overcome the temptations of the world. I want to be as determined as Saint Martinian the hermit was. When he was being strongly tempted by a beautiful woman seducing him, he lit a fire and put his feet in it long enough to feel dread for the fires of Hell. I offer up to You the areas of my life in which I am especially vulnerable to succumbing to Satan’s wiles. Strengthen my resolve, O Lord. Help me to keep You always in front of me, protecting me and making it clear the difference between sinful ways and Your ways. Saint Martinian, pray for me. Amen.
Beloved Lord, Saint Julian spent his life caring for the poor as a sacrifice for inadvertently killing his parents. He is the patron saint of circus workers, innkeepers, travelers, and murderers. I ask him to pray for all those in the entertainment industry so that they grow in a desire to use their talents to renew life rather than destroy it. I ask him to intercede for the safety of travelers and for the needs of those who provide services to tourists. And I ask him to pray for the families who need healing from the tragedies of murder and abuse. Holy Spirit, teach us to protect and respect all life. Saint Julian, pray for us. Amen.
Divine Jesus, you sent Our Lady of Lourdes, the Blessed Mother Mary, to Saint Bernadette to show the world that God is real. Just like Mary asked to the girl to dig for a spring of healing water to appear, show me how to be cleansed of my sinful tendencies. Give to me our dear Mother when I need her tender love and holy inspiration. As I go through difficulties, cover me with her prayers. When I have important decisions to make, ask her to intercede for me until I understand and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance. When it’s time for me to die, send her to carry me peacefully into the arms of our heavenly Father. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for me. Amen.
O Beloved Jesus, Saint Scholastica enjoyed spending hour upon hour talking with family and friends about the nature of God and the joys of spiritual growth. She found so much energy in this activity that she would continue all night long! I submit to You, O Lord, all of my conversations. May I speak only words that glorify You. Bring to me companions who have the same enthusiasm for faith-sharing. Protect us from shallow chatter and from sinful gossip. Help us to take time out of our busy lives to come together for the sake of mutual support and spiritual growth. Saint Scholastica, pray for us. Amen.
