Sweet Jesus, Saint Anthony of Padua was always a ready helper in time of need. Though he preferred to live as a hermit, leaving his cave only to attend Mass and sweep the nearby monastery, he filled in for a scheduled speaker who failed to keep his commitment. Afterward, he had to travel constantly, because his reputation as a great preacher spread widely. Since he’s become the patron saint for finding lost articles, I ask him to be my ready helper in time of need. Though sometimes it seems petty to ask his help in finding items I’ve misplaced, I thank You, Lord, for giving me this saint who cares. Saint Anthony of Padua, pray for me. Amen.
QUOTES by Saint Anthony of Padua
O the mercy of God! Never does He refuse to be merciful, but is ever present to those who turn to Him. >>
Behold those little pieces of straw which the world tramples under its feet. They are the virtues practiced by the Savior. >>
Although obedience and poverty seem to confine and restrict our freedom, nevertheless, poverty makes us rich, and obedience makes us free. Whoever follows Jesus along the straight and narrow path will not be hampered by attachments to riches and to his own will. >>
The saints are like the stars. In his providence Christ conceals them in a hidden place that they may not shine before others when they might wish to do so. Yet they are always ready to exchange the quiet of contemplation for the works of mercy as soon as they perceive in their heart the invitation of Christ. >>
Attribute to God every good that you have received. If you take credit for something that does not belong to you, you will be guilty of theft. >>
